We have fielded a few questions from customers regarding monitoring Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) temperature using the ScanGauge. ATF temperature can only be monitored using an X-Gauge. An X-Gauge is a gauge that is programmed in by the user. X-Gauges are developed by Linear Logic when new sensor data is discovered in particular vehicle brands or specific models. ATF temperature is an often requested gauge and Linear Logic try and focus developing and testing codes for ATF temperature. Some vehicles may have codes that can be used, others may never have codes developed for them.
What follows is listed in the product description of the ScanGauge but I will make note of it here to highlight it.
The ScanGaugeII features the exclusive X-GAUGE™ programmable gauge system; you can monitor parameters such as transmission temperatures†, trip data and fuel economy information. X-Gauge™ gives you the ability to customize your ScanGaugeII by adding additional vehicle specific digital gauges. NOTE: Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) temperature X-Gauges are vehicle specific and will not work on all vehicles models a manufacturer produces. ie. a Ford ATF X-Gauge will not work across all vehicles in all countries. If monitoring ATF temperature is must have feature, please confirm with us before purchasing your ScanGauge. Current X-Gauges we have tested on Australian vehicles can be found here. Linear Logic’s X-Gauge codes can be found here.
